GONFALONS: Used at Commencement and Special Events, Gonfalons are ceremonial banners that represent the College and University. Used in processionals, Gonfalons date back to medieval tradition. Generally, College Gonfalons are sized at 3’w x 5’h with The University Gonfalon sized at 4’w x 6’h. Gonfalons are mounted onto dark oak flagpoles and are carried into the event by honored members of the faculty or student body. Design aspects of the Gonfalon can include a seal, school colors, tag line or logo. Through digital printing and dye sublimation, you can have halftones and color gradations, intricate detailing & vibrant color.
A Southern Tailors Representative will be happy to explain the advantages of each style. We will provide you with templates. This will help with the design process. |

ATTACHMENT: The Gonfalon is attached to its vertical pole via a brass hook and eye. To minimize “swaying” during processionals, a fabric strip, the same color as the back panel of the Gonfalon, secures the bottom of the Gonfalon to the vertical pole. |
